Is it good to cook with Lard?

         Lard is nothing but Pig fat. It is available both in rendered and un rendered. It can be extracted from any part of the pig where the adipose (tissue where fat accumulates) tissues are highly available. The fat is extracted by boiling in water followed by separation of fat. It becomes semi-soft white fat with high saturated fatty acid content. Being the product obtained from pig, it is not being accepted as food in many cultures.

         Lard is used as like butter in many cuisines. It spreads as like butter. As its smoke point is very high, it will not produce smoke unlike other cooking oils. As it is producing less smoke, it produces less carcinogenic agents unlike other oils. So, it is good to use lard than other oils , as it will not cause cancer when eaten.
