Do the hair and finger nails grow after death?

Finger Nails

Once a person die, the body skin starts getting dehydrated and retracts. This seems like the nails and hair is growing. It’s a myth that hair and finger nails grow after death.  The reason why the hair and finger nails grow is due to cell division. But the cell division requires some energy, which eventually after death will not happen. Moreover, when cells burn glucose in the presence of oxygen, the energy generates and energy produces. As the oxygen availability is totally absent, there are not chances for growth of nails and hair. There can be a questions that some traces of oxygen will get left over which can cause growth, but it will not happen. When the moisture content in the skin starts dropping, the skin will become dry and starts pulling back, the nails which will be under the skin up to certain height will get exposed out or protruded out which will gives an impression of nail growth.
